Dr. Ghulam Muhammad Ali executed several research projects, and established state of the art institute National Institute for Genomics and Advance Biotechnology (NIGAB) and trained the team in high tech areas, serving as Director General of NARC under the umbrella of Pakistan Agricultural Research Council. It is an exclusive national institute in the discipline of advanced agricultural biotechnology and genomics. The aim of the institute is to embark on problem oriented research programs having potential to lead us to increase the food security, food sovereignty and food safety in this country. Recently he developed three mega projects on Pulses, Banana tissue culture and Genomics. He also established department of Plant Genomics and Biotechnology (PGB), degree awarding.
